As I arrive home just as the Maersk Pembroke passes my house I reflect on the day and how hectic it has been. The few days around Christmas are always busy and today was no exception. Lots of gifts given out and the reward is seeing the thrill on the faces of the Chinese seafarers when they see there is one for each crew member. The arrival of a Ukrainian seafarer with a large real Christmas tree that he has lugged on the bus but cannot get it into the terminal. Then the mad dash to try and obtain a goat at 4pm with me onboard ship and Nancy our volunteer doing a great job of phoning around. Please think of all the seafarers that are away from their families toiling to bring Christmas gifts to out shores. ... See MoreSee Less
